TRAVERSE CITY -- NMC Student Life and Third Level Crisis
Intervention Center will present Eve Ensler's production of "The Vagina
Monologues" at 7 p.m. April 30 in Milliken Auditorium.
“We have a wonderful cast made up of students and community
members,” said Nichole Wheelock, Youth Services social work at ThirdLevel.
Tickets are available at the Dennos Museum Center reception desk (not the box
office) as well as online at www.nmc.edu/vday. Tickets are $10 for the general
public and $5 for students and seniors.
V-Day Traverse City is sponsored by NMC Student Life and
student groups VOX and PRIDE as well as Third Level Crisis Center. V-Day is a
global activist movement to end violence against women and girls which raises
funds and awareness through benefit productions of "The Vagina Monologues'
and other artistic works. In 2011, more than 5,800 V-Day benefit events took
place. All proceeds will go to the V-Day spotlight organization as well as the local
Women's Resource Center.
For 37 years, the Women's Resource Center has worked to end
domestic and sexual violence in our community. The agency has grown from a
handful of committed volunteers to a staff of 45 professionals covering five
counties, three satellite offices, a 24-hour emergency shelter, three
transition homes and a retail thrift shop.
