TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. – March 15, 2012 – The finals of the 2012 UpNorthTV Teleganza Teen Talent Search will be televised for the first time this weekend, launching the playback schedule of performances from the concert event recorded earlier this month at the City Opera House in Traverse City. The UpNorthTV Teleganza is an annual event celebrating community-access television in northern Michigan. Each night, six popular musical acts from across the region performed live on stage and on UpNorthTV 97 & 992, with music running nearly nonstop from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. In between main acts, young singers and musicians performed in a Teen Talent Search competition with cash prizes. The Teleganza helps to raise funds for UpNorthTV and its work in the community, most notably the “UpNorthTV Road Show for Charity,” an innovative program to support video projects benefitting local nonprofit organizations. Originally scheduled for three nights, the 2012 Teleganza was cut short by the severe snow storm and power outages on Saturday, March 3. Performances scheduled for that night included the finals of the Teen Talent Search, but event organizers and participants rallied to hold an alternative performance after the storm to complete the competition.
The finals can be viewed this weekend on UpNorthTV cable channels 97 and 992 at the following times: Friday, March 16, 8 p.m. Saturday, March 17, 8 p.m. Sunday, March 18, 9 p.m. Beginning on Saturday, the Teen Talent Search finals can also be streamed on demand over the Internet at www.upnorthmedia.org.
